$6.00 for a loaf of bread.
...and it was on sale.
Ezekiel organic, salt free.
Trader Joe carried it for 20 years and the last price was three fiddy before they dropped it a few months ago.
Checked out the 483 varieties of bread at Sprouts today and they had the stuff for $5.99, marked down from $6.50.
Now keep in mind, this is no artisan loaf with pimentos and parmesan cheese.
Time to follow the bible and eat fresh fruit for a while.

I'll go to Natural Grocers next time.
Around the holidays they keep asking me if i want to order a turkey.
Can't they just tell me what the fuddernutter total is?

Could it be you're reminding the cashier of turkey? You don't need to worry though till you get the same question at the self serve check out.

Really only 30 cents a slice. Add some dill chips and mustard and you got a sandwich for under a buck.
So long, Paul.
Re: $6.00 for a loaf of bread.
Yep, you can always make a sandwich cheaper by not putting anything on it.
What you had wasn’t a sandwich. It was two pieces of overpriced bread.

Biden is an asshole.
"Everything from a gallon of gas to a loaf of bread costs more, and it's worrisome," Biden said. "Many people remain unsettled about the economy and we all know why. They see higher prices, they go to the store or go online, they can't find what they always want and when they want it."

That's true. I've looked high and low for a different president and am finding none.

Re: $6.00 for a loaf of bread.
I stopped and looked at that bread yesterday. Thought it was refrigerated, but no...it was frozen.
At Trader Joe's they were half the price and fresh. I'll bet TJ's sold 6 or 8 loaves of that bread each day. I doubt that Sprout's sells one a week.
Sort of how stagflation works. Supplier/retailer raises the price to a "fair" number and customer resists as the product is no longer desirable, so stuff is figuratively (and in this case literally,) frozen on the shelf.
I bought avocados and tomatoes and raw cashews yesterday. But no bread.

$6.49 at Natural grocers.
I opted for the Essene bread at $4.35.
Should probably buy a bread maker.

Actually pretty good. Just got tired of it.

Virtually all commercial breads contain added salt. Too bad as it is not needed. Salami and cheese and mustard, all that stuff people put on it, are loaded with salt.

An old time "treat" was salt on bread.

I can see butter, jelly, jam, preserves, peanut butter, apple butter, etc but how does salt on bread make it a treat?

My mother made coffee in a frying pan. Might not have been bad if it was a clean pan.
"The potatoes are burning" was a nightly cry at least 3 times a week.
That's why I ......liked.....Army food.

Re: $6.00 for a loaf of bread.
Walked by the frozen bread case a few days ago. $7.00 now for the loaf. I'll bet that they don't sell one a month.
When it gets to ten bucks, I'll buy one. Never had a ten dollar bread before.
