Discontinue the Business strike Cent?

Post by ArtificialStupidity »

Takes about three and a half pounds of them to buy a Quarter Pounder.

Long past time.

Get rid of the cent and nickel.

Get rid of the paper dollar, so we can start circulating all those brass dollars sitting in vaults. Plus mint a $2 coin like Canada does. Would be nice to have coins that actually circulate other than the quarter. Everything else is practically NCLT.

It's time to do away with the cent and the nickel coins. They cost more to make than they're worth. Seems stupid to keep minting them.

Agree. Also, do away with the dollar bill and use the dollar coins. Unfortunately, the Crane Paper Company who makes the paper for our currency is located in MA and their democrat congressional representatives will never allow it.

Counterstamp Morgans and Peaces and revalue to $50. Fun in your pocket.

Probably $100 is a better idea as silver soars.

I have no doubt that getting rid of the cent will benefit everyone but the consumer. A lot of businesses that do not charge credit card fees, mostly restaurants, have obviously jacked up prices so everyone pays more. It's time the restaurants and the other cash hungry businesses get reeled in.

They'd just start spitting in the food.

Or...spit more than they do now.

if one domino falls, it will help the government to go cashless altogether. That's where they want to be, so all of your transactions can be tracked and taxed and regulated. So keep the useless cent and the rest.

I was hopeful this would get done once Ted Kennedy croaked, but I guess Crane lined the pockets of the rest of Congress in Mass. as well.

Valid.

Hundred Dollar bill barely gets you two decent athletic shoes. Don't see a $500 note anywhere on the horizon.

Lgalize bearer bonds again.
No one would give a Elmo about the junk for groceries and gas.

In my 20's, my plan was to someday be able to stack bearer bonds.
Then they quit em.
Bearer bonds are no longer issued in the U.S. because they are ripe for use in money laundering and tax evasion schemes.
dammit.
Oh well......
