Interesting for sure. Benefit of doubt suggests the image is lying. Hard to believe what the label and sticker are suggesting if that hit really exists.

I bet the color is closer to the slab shot with that Green helping the grade.
Re: MS 68+ $5 Gold ?
That's a lot of money to put into one common date half eagle. I'd rather buy several dozen MS65's for that kind of money. Of course, whoever bought it was wealthy and $125K is just pocket change to him.

Couldn't get a cac 7 or 8 years ago on a 64 $20 with a hit like that.

Just guessing but whoever pays that much for a common date half eagle has plenty of money to burn.

Only fair since grade helps the green.
"Racist" is a toolword. You must know that.
Any objective examination of the effect of "them" has to lead you to the behavior and ideology that is now termed, "racist."
Refute if you can.

Early days of the registry hustle, lot of folks stretched hard to assemble a top set. Then often dumped them in haste to pay the bills.

Re: MS 68+ $5 Gold ?
A lot of collectors would agree with you. But my experience differs. I have bought many nice gem common date gold pieces over the years as well as a few condition census common date gold pieces. The condition census coins returns have always outperformed the nice MS 65 and 66 coins. Common dates are just that, common. It's the condition census that creates rarity. There are only a handful. Of course the risk with condition census are 1. equal or greater coins are discovered, and 2. Grade inflation. With grade inflation it may be required to throw the coin back to the TPS and that is always a risk.
With my experiences this has not happened, but I know people who have taken serious hits by those risks. With that said, it only works with consensus coins, not just elevated grade. The adage of buy the best you can afford is a losers game in most cases. Unless it falls in the top 5 coins or so it is best to stick with a value you is comfortable with.
I would add that the best success I have had with coins is sticking to true rarities. With time they win at most any grade.
YMMV
