How am I supposed to present...

... a group of muckity mucks who thrive on "executive summaries" the info they need to understand when after a week of working on it, trying to make the presentation shorter and from a higher level it's still over 80 pages!!! These guys start losing interest after 3 pages.
What compounds the problem is the "group" is made up of various different organizations with competing interests.

I know what needs to be done and they just need to do it.

summarize your recommendations to four pages. If they want supporting documentation, it's available. Done. Go fishing.

I feel the same way about the world's entire population.

That's kind of where I'm headed as there really is no option. Fishin' sounds good. I wonder if the wife will mind me blowing off our anniversary dinner tonight in order to go fishin'?

I'm sure if you "treat her" before you head out, she's fine with whatever you want to do afterward.

As for the presentations, been there before. Just give the bottom line up front. If they have questions, they can ask or read your backup material.

Lemme practice...

Good Morning and welcome to the meeting. I would ask that each of you put your coffee cups on the table..... Thanks.
Your costs are going up $7 million at minimum over then next 5 years just to keep the status quo.
Did you all try the donuts?

if your company is not alone in the inflationary costs arena (it isn't) and they have done their homework (they haven't, but you can help them with that), it will be clear to them that you are passing along increased cost of doing business instead of squeezing extra juice out of them.

You have to just be better than your competitors, they need your service. You guys will just shuffle around the customers.

It's keeping both sets of masters happy when neither likes to budge. The truth be told... that much money is really not that huge of deal to these guys but they'll all act like it is just to push the other side.

Barndog has it about right... Reality, facts of life, plan of action, vote to accept Staff's recomendation, then lunch.

Everything on on track.

The risks have been mitigated.

You have all done very well!

Best way to do it and if their attention span truly is three pages, the more contentious recommendations should be on page four, either to perk their interest or obtain their consent.

Divide the 7 mil by 25 and remind them that costs are only going up $280,000 in silver coins and that they wouldn't be going up at all if the government hadn't fuddernutter them and all of us.
