sorry for the loss, but glad to hear that you were there at his side when it happened. I missed out on that when my dad passed with no warning back in 2001

I haven't been here-hear for a few days. Wanted to check on Dad. Comrade, sorry for your loss.

My Dad suffered smoewhat the same way. I too was fortunate enough to be there-their. My Dad had smoe interesting visions right at the end. Makes one think.

Now...wait until the funeral, that's gonna be smoe 'fun.' One bizarre thing happened to me just before arriving at the funeral home, as I was exiting the freeway a song came on the radio. It was The The's...This is the day (you're life will surely change.) It did. We made smoe major changes...all for the better.

I still think of him. It's been ten years now.

Good luck, time heals-heels.

this experience of shutting down accounts has renewed my hatred for Dish Network, Comcast and AT&T.

I am just catching up on this forum. I am so sorry for your loss, and the chores of tying up loose ends for a loved one. Right foot left foot it as best you can. You were so lucky to be there when he passed, even though it didn't feel like it. Thank you also for sharing his little words of wisdom toward the end. Priceless.

yeah. the last week or so goes very slowly. but i'd say everything is pretty much in order and now i look forward to the ashes scattering ceremony thing in the spring. i guess i'll take a few days to go up north, invite some folks and cook all of his favorite dishes, for i can do rather a lot better in my kitchen than any restaurant in that shabby little town.

as an added bonus, i am finding that 90% of the house went on-hold when my mother passed in 2008 and that my dad's stuff is merely a veneer on top of this older stuff.

so that's lots of old rotten cotton sitting around. every room seems to contain it's own year's pile of paid PG+E bills. so i can't say that there is a lot of attachment with much of what must be disposed of.

BUT... the photo album.... oh. my. goodness.

it's from 1972..1975. It screams 70s. i need to post some pics. holy Elmo.

talked with my mom at Christmas about ash-scattering. She decided hers should be at the beach in the city where she grew up (Revere Beach). She had plenty of good memories from that place. She's not near death, at least I don't think so. Good to discuss in advance anyway. My wife knows smoe of mine go to Fenway Park and smoe go to the Kenai River

my FIL works with metals, glass, etc. Pretty artistic and technically competent. He's made colorful glass beads/pendants with ashes of dead pets embedded. Smoe people want a memento, he obliges.
