First PT session tomorrow, 3 weeks post op. I'm gonna make sure those flunkies don't pull my hip out of socket afta hearing of Rollo's encounter.

pulling it out of the socket is good to stretch the fascia. My daughter is thinking of becoming a PT. She doesn't like to cause pain, so not sure that will work out.

No problem. The PT person-thingy said I'm doing great. Good muscle reaction. I've been doing a lot of exercises. I'm pretty much up and walking w/o the walker all day for a few days now. Today was my first solo trip in the car, shopped at Safeway, bought smoe elmo, and drove back. Doesn't sound like much but it was yuuge.

Which brings me to the drugs. I've never been on meds. No blood pressure, no this or that. A pretty good run for 59 years. I've never taken rec-drugs. But, about 5 months ago I had to go on blood pressure medicine. I'm usually around 128/80...but I started to ping mid 140's over 90ish. Doc says that my lack of activity (due to hip pain) and pain level was kicking up the pressure. Okay, fine, BP meds it is. Now it's been three weeks...been on oxytocin, vicadine, celecoxib, tam, etc.,... Trying to get off the meds...I've been lengthening my periods and am virtually off all the pscho drugs and it feels weird. I'm in total detox mode. It's driving me knuts. I wanna crawl outta my skin. I feel the walls caving in on me, claustrophobia, and fog. Elmo. No likey. And remember, I dint take that one drug that warned of suicide(?) Elmo, what would that detox be like?

yeah. i felt weird for about eight days having taken merely ten of those heroin pills.

the chemical fog is hardcore and some people live their whole lives in it.

and you are talking to someone who went to ucsc. it's a chemical brain fog campus.

they seem awfully eager to prescribe bp meds for someone who isn't really at risk in my opinion.

there's this weird drug my dad took for a while to try and stop smoking. Chantrix.
it caused him to have bizarre "day-mares".
although this drug stopped his nicotine cravings, it was too mentally weird for him.
and when admitted to the hospital later (unrelated reason), Chantrix is one of the meds that they disallow
in the recovery rooms because it can ideate suicide.

so gabapentin seems similarly evil.

I know a woman who uses 5-8 Vicodins and 3 or more oxys per DAY! Spiked with a percocet every once in a while.

SEEMINGLY no adverse effects. Dunno how though.
And... I have no idea how she GETS them.

She's one helluva Scrabble player though.

First paragraph is positive. Second is of concern. Might be a good idea to discuss the symptoms with your surgeon.

This experience saddens me. My father was on meds for decades. He had a lot of issues stemming from WWII, POW, moving to two different countries and living with a very difficult wife. His use of prescribed meds is one reason I avoided them. I figured I could combat most ailments with diet, water, and sleep. It works well until real issues arise like this bump hip.

...all those years, I never knew how much agony he was in. He complained about not sleeping, going stir crazy, being depressed, and not being able to go on long walks at the beach. In his last days (sadly, self induced) he was off the meds. He looked and felt great but... I told him for years to get off the meds...you have no idea what your baseline is I said to him. He was addicted to them and docs kept prescribing. Arschlochen.

He died at 77. He had so many years left. His brother and sister are all in their 80's. My uncle in Stuttgart is 81 and still teaches snowboarding to kids...

Hell, I'm only......um.... move along...

I have and I was making sure I wasn't being led too far beyond my ability.

I told my post op doc that I was quitting PT.
He said fine.

Just be careful. Hip Elmo is way different from knee Elmo and the exercises are different. In my case, it was a visit to PT with a ...SURPRISE... thingy that set me back.

Today is four weeks...I'm ready to go to the Supreme Court to replace Ruth Buzzi, easier than flying.
