CAC holders.

Post by ArtificialStupidity »

So a "genuine" with the built in bean.

What all does that mean?

And if you have a straight graded coin in the CAC holder, do you need to resubmit it for a real green sticker.

Probably 86 threads on this at CU, but not worth sorting through all that as long as we got Matt here.

Ha, wish I could help. I don't bother too much with the CAC BS over there. I don't own any CAC slabs yet either.

In theory only "A" and "B" coins make the grade. A "C" coin finds a lower grade. So supposedly no need to sticker a CAC grading service coin. All the details grade coin means is the coin sucks, and CAC thinks so. I am very suspect of the business model because dealers really are not fans of tight grading. And I suspect within a few years CAC grade inflation will become nearly as rampant as PCGS and NGC.

Would have been easy to bypass the problem coins. What fun would that be, though.

The best service would be send in your slab and if it does not pass, the coin is removed and put in a proper ALBUM!
Cost will be variable depending on album.

ALBUMS were interesting and fun.
The first grading companies satisfied the desire of some collectors who wanted someone to approve their album picks.
Completing an album or set (?) was a very common goal.

If I were looking to build a business on coin collectors, it would be to develop an ...ALBUM.... of non reactive material designed in a way that would prevent "slide scratches" on the coins. Maybe just thick enough "pages" that would leave ample room.

There was a 3c Ag but the photo glared out.
I can see a remnant in the white glare.

That type set picture looks like it was taken with a disposable 35mm camera and then waited 20 years to get the pics developed.

I would be honored to take some better pics of that. Too many coin collectors are completely braindead fuddernutter morons and would have broken that up. Glad to see something like that still exist in the hobby.
