Shares of coffeehouse chain Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) fell 17% in the morning session after the company reported first-quarter results. Its revenue and EPS unfortunately missed analysts' expectations as its same-store sales declined by 4% (driven by a 6% decline in volumes offset by a 2% increase in prices). Starbucks's demand in China was especially weak as its same-store sales fell 11%. Management highlighted its disappointment with the results and called out a challenging operating environment. Overall, this was a bad quarter for Starbucks.

Re: SBUX
Or maybe folks are tired of spending fifteen bucks on coffee and a bagel.
Starbucks CFO Rachel Ruggeri tells Seana Smith and Brooke DiPalma that the beverage giant "didn't respond fast enough" to the decline in sales as the number of occasional customers dropped. She points to upcoming digital initiatives, like the rewards program and in-app offers, that will seek to engage more customers and drive sales.
As the company's shares continue to drop, Ruggeri says Starbucks is not considering price cuts, and is instead focused on "investing" in its rewards program. "When we bring customers into the program, we know that their lifetime value increases. They spend more money and they come more frequently. So we see that as our biggest opportunity," she says.

Forget going to one unless in some kind of apocalyptic coffee emergency, but the mugs.
the mugs.. they put a bit of science into them, which doesn't amount to much other than making sure fingers don't touch side of mug... and i'd been getting them at the goodwill for a buck.
gigs up on that though. crackheads wanting 8 bucks per mug now
glad i established my mini hoard ground floor

Mugs are great, Cullen. Use one as a soup ladle.

anti 2A, so this is good news. Truly, though, from an investor standpoint, if what they say is true, this is a dip to considering buying. I will never go to one and I also never allow my daughter to use my CC at StarSucks. Pretty much anywhere else, but not there (and not Target, F that place too).

Picked up a fifty dollar gift card at the bucks this morning for my lady friend's mom.
Cashier asked if I had anything smaller than the hundred. Didn't.
"Change will have to be in fives and a roll of quarters if that is ok?"
Sure.
Place had been open 5 hours...they didn't have any twenties?
Next time I'll use Barndog's card.

They work for a company that supported it. There's a lot of buyer's remorse going on in politics with lot's of excuses and misplaced blame but zero self-responsibility.Management highlighted its disappointment with the results and called out a challenging operating environment.

It is Trader Joes that causes the most internal debate.
Swore off German products in the 80's. No more Sennheiser headphones (really miss them.) Chucked the Tetramin, fish were mildly annoyed, but adapted. No more Adidas shoes (Asics were pretty good when I was running more.)
Found out a decade ago that Germans owned the California founded TJ's.
Easy store to shop at. Employees in every aisle if you can't find something. When they get busy, they open more checkouts rather than herd you toward the machines.
I'll stay with them.
