clutch
I think I burnt the fuddernutter clutch out of my truck
We had about 8" of snow here the other day and I decided to hook my trailer up to pick up a car from someone on CL. i asked the guy if there was enough room for me to turn around and all that as I always do, Plenty of room he responds, We just got the drive plowed. When I got there they had a short drive with about a 60 degree angle. I knew it wasn't gonna be pretty as soon as I saw it. I pulled in anyway and negotiated for the car.
When we were done I asked where I could turn around. They made one path with the snow plow down the drive. I had to back into the 8" deep snow and the snow they had plowed off to the side in between two junk piles. Wasn't enough room to back up enough so I could just pull back out the way I came so I had to go back & forth 15 times. Well the trailer just acted as a big scoop and I had a hell of a time getting out of it even with my 4x4 truck with 35" mud tires. I smelled something burning and the clutch was in back of my mind but I just blew it off thinking it was the tires. Once I made it Up the drive and got onto the road I put it in a higher gear than I should have and hit the gas to see if the clutch would slip. Sure enough. I must have inadvertently had my foot slightly on the clutch pedal between all the backing up and such. I'm hoping it was just hot and after it cools down it'll be fine. I know that's not gonna be the case but I have my fingers crossed.
I was gonna pull it out today to see if it was still slipping but have been putting it off. I have a buddy coming over later tonight to plow so I'll have to move it then. Guess I will find out. I'm not looking forward to putting a damn clutch in in this Elmo weather. The truck won't even fit in my garage so I'll have to take it to my parents 20 miles away. Only good part about it is its a Chevy so the clutch kit should be around $100 and take 2-3 hours max to throw it in.

Truck & trailer has sat here in this unplowed portion of my lot for the last few days while another 6" fell and the plow truck plowed a fuddernutter 3' high wall against it. I fired it up earlier and let it warm up then hoped in. Walked right out of the snow. Once I got onto a dry road I was driving about 15mph, put it into fourth and punched it. No slippage , Can't believe I didn't glaze the clutch disc. That's a Hunert staying in my pocket. Maybe I'll join that program Barkley was talking about.
