Bear in mind that the rechargeables have to have a charger. Not always available in a hospital.
I have my old battery ones in my emergency "go-bag" with some batteries that I could use if hospitalized.

Since the batteries are $4 / 12 they make more sense than the rechargers. At least I think so.
