Never wanted to be a scout. But I liked the scout book. Good info on fire starting and stuff.
"Racist" is a toolword. You must know that.
Any objective examination of the effect of "them" has to lead you to the behavior and ideology that is now termed, "racist."

Refute if you can.

My Scouting years were spent in the back waters of BumFuque, Texas. After the first year of Webelos all den leaders called off. Too many chores on their farms and ranches? Now if you wanted to get paid doing smoe farm chores things could be arranged. I'd throw my bicycle in the back of Dad's truck about 5am in the summer, and he'd drop me at old man Slater's place and I'd milk his herd of Elsies, restock their feed, and shovel shyte out of the barns for about 3 hours and get a real man's wage! $1 dollah! But they were 90% silver Washingtons.

I was never a cub, boy, or girl scout. I was too busy fishing, hunting, working on the farm, riding dirt bikes, riding horses, camping with the family and playing to have time for it.

Well, actually, it's been several years in the making; bankruptcy, sexual abuse allegations by 90,000+ scouts and a couple of billion dollars in payout. Methinks the rebranding may be an attempt to put all of this behind.

"In the past" might be a better euphemism.

They were saying on the news that the company that makes Swiss army knives is coming out with a model that has all of the tools minus the knife blade. I wonder if TSA will allow you to carry it on a plane.

That's awesome. I have a friend who went all the way to Eagle and I know he put in a lot of effort. He knew a lot about the wild, there's no way anyone would be able to starve him out of these forests if it came to it.

i didn't go as far but definitely enjoyed the time. pinewood derby career highlight. :)

I am a Life Scout. When I saw what it was going to take for Eagle I said fuddernutter it. Congrats to Meos though, quite an accomplishment.

BTW, never got my coin collecting merit badge. I likely could have become a better collector if I had done so.

Both boys earned Eagle, 2015 & 2018. CR got two 'Eagle Scout Dad' pins that he proudly displayed on his work tie. :D

The Two black kids in our LDS troop sharpened long sticks and speared another troops tent, we had to pay for it. The bad news bears of scouting...
